Population
La Gomera currently has a population of approximately 18,000 inhabitants that are mainly divided between the 6 municipal boroughs that the island is divided into: Agulo, Alajero, Hermigua, Vallermoso, Valle Gran Rey and San Sebastian de La Gomera.
Economy
The La Gomera economy has always been based on farming and fishing. The development of the tourist industry has been very gradual and it has been guided by the policies of sustainable development designed by the competent authorities.
